South Carolina “tea party” Governor Nikki Haley has endorsed former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for President. The influence of the “First in the South” Primary could be as “The Donald” would say, “Huge”. Here is the statement from the Romney Camp.
As the South Carolina Campaign Chairman for Governor Mitt Romney, I am pleased to announce this morning Governor Nikki Haley has endorsed Mitt Romney for President.
I am delighted by her announcement and welcome Nikki’s commitment and her enthusiastic support for Governor Romney. In her remarks this morning, Governor Haley pointed out Mitt Romney’s extensive, real world experience in business– his effective management in the 2002 Olympic Games and his relentless and successful efforts at reining in spending of a state government dominated by Democrats. It is clear that Mitt Romney is prepared to lead and confront Barack Obama’s failed leadership.

The first-term governor offered “all of my support” to the former Massachusetts governor during an interview on Fox News. She plans to hold a campaign event with Romney Friday afternoon in South Carolina.
“Now more than ever, we need someone that has the leadership to deal with a broken Washington,” Haley said, adding that Romney to his credit is “not part of the chaos” in the nation’s capital.
Haley cited Romney’s experience turning companies around and shepherding the 2002 Winter Olympics. She also said it “says a lot” that he was able to govern effectively and balance the budget in Boston while Democrats were in charge of the legislature.
If nothing else, Haley said the flak Romney takes from President Obama’s team proves he’s the right candidate.
South Carolina has a winner in Governor Romney. With Governor Haley on our team we are well on our way to ensuring Barack Obama is a one-term president.
From Politico: South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, one of the most sought-after remaining Republican endorsements, will come out for Mitt Romney Friday morning, POLITICO has learned.
Haley will offer her formal endorsement on Fox and Friends, giving Romney an important boost ahead of South Carolina’s primary next month.
Romney is heading to South Carolina this weekend, where he’s likely to be joined by Haley at town hall meetings on the coast.
Haley, a tea party favorite who upended South Carolina’s GOP establishment by winning last year, has been courted by all of the GOP presidential contenders. As a state representative, she backed Romney in 2008.
