President Obama has used Sesame Workshop character ‘Big Bird’ in a New ad attacking Mitt Romney without permission. We guess in Obama’s world, when you receive government subsidies, along with 1 million dollars in stimulus money, he owns your brand to do what ever he wills. So Big Bird is part of the collective. But Big Bird says He/She is nonpartisan and has requested that the Obama campaign remove the Ad.
Again in Obama’s world, he doesn’t believe that he should pay royalties to use a likeness of Big Bird and voice to do his bidding. That is the socialist point of view and it should be instructive… You didn’t build Sesame Street! Somebody else made that happen!
As it stands right now, the Obama campaign has not removed the advertisement.
Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, is requesting that the Obama campaign take down a new ad portraying Mitt Romney as more concerned with Big Bird than Wall Street criminals.
“Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns,” the group said. “We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.”
Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters today that they’re reviewing Sesame Workshop’s request to pull the ad.
“It doesn’t change the fact that there’s only one candidate in this race who is going to continue to fight for Big Bird and Elmo and he’s riding on this plane,” Psaki told reporters on Air Force One, en route to an Obama campaign event in Ohio.
“There’s been a strong grassroots outcry over the attacks on Big Bird,” Psaki added.
“This is something that mothers across the country are alarmed about. And we’re tapping into that.”

According to Mitt Romney, it’s not Wall Street you have to worry about, it’s Sesame Street.
Sesame Workshop Response to Campaign Ads
Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.
Big Bird Blasts Obama — TAKE ME OUT OF YOUR ATTACK AD!
In case you haven’t seen it … Team Obama released the ad following the debate, in which they mock Mitt Romney’s vow to cut off government funding to PBS. The ad portrays Big Bird as an enemy of America who towered over criminals like Bernie Madoff and Ken Lay.
But Big Bird isn’t laughing … and neither is Ernie, Bert, Oscar or Elmo (and that dude laughs at EVERYTHING) … claiming Team Obama never asked for permission before using the Sesame Street character.
The Huffington Post – Not the first time campaigns have been asked to take down ads
The Sesame Workshop isn’t the first group to ask a campaign to take down an ad. Numerous media organizations, including NBC News, MSNBC and CBS, have all balked at seeing their employees featured in ads from both the Obama and Romney campaigns. Just on Monday, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell vocally objected to her appearance in an Obama ad.
So how important is Big Bird in the Grand scheme of things? Reason Magazine takes a shot at Obama protecting Big Bird but not United States Ambassadors
Obama Vows to Protect Big Bird, U.S. Ambassadors Not So Much
FireDogLake’s David Dayen objects to the lack of recently convicted CEOs in in President Obama’s new anti-Romney ad:
There’s only one thing that sticks out to me about this ad, though the casual viewer probably won’t notice it. Let’s look at that litany of Wall Street “criminals” and “gluttons of greed,” which later get juxtaposed with Big Bird. You have Bernie Madoff, Ken Lay and Dennis Kozlowski. So two CEOs prosecuted and convicted by George W. Bush’s Justice Department, and Madoff, whose son turned him in before Obama took office, in December 2008, and who pleaded guilty.
So the Obama campaign could not fill a list of three Wall Street criminals that the Obama Justice Department actually sent to jail. Heck, they couldn’t fill a list of one!
We noticed one figure conveniently left out of the Ad. Where is MF Globals (Obama’s Go to guy on the economy) Former NJ Governor Corzine. But why? Obama failed to prosecute his friend and big bundler
Oh and just for Giggles, Big Bird is Richer than Romney!
