Latest dispatch from the Department of Pot-Meet-Kettle. On today’s Face the Nation, Texas state senator Wendy Davis, who overnight went from being a national unknown to a rising star who today appeared on count-em three Sunday talk shows, has accused politicians of using the abortion issue “to boost their own political aspirations.”

Davis also accused Texas Governor Rick Perry and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst of putting thousands of Texas women “in harm’s way in order for them to step up the political ladder.” Bob Schieffer never called Davis on her hypocrisy. View the video after the jump.

Good morning, TexMessagers! Are legislators using the abortion issue to “step up on the political ladder”?

Texas State Senator Wendy Davis successfully filibustered against an abortion bill last week, but that didn’t stop Gov. Rick Perry from holding a special session on Monday to reconsider the bill.

Thousands of demonstrators showed up at the Texas Capitol Building before the start of the special session held on Monday to discuss the regulation of abortion procedures, providers and facilities. Police officers  surrounded the area to help prevent violence or disorderly conduct.

  1. do you use satiric misspelling for any other religion or is Christianity the only one you’re not afraid of? Congress and all states pass legislation they don’t understand..look at Obamacare for one. I don’t agree with murdering children in the womb or snipping their spinal chords after birth. The only time abortion should be used is if the mother will die otherwise.

  2. Ms. Davis accused pro-life politicians of using abortion to further their political aspirations-just saying she is doing the same since she is now thinking of running for gov. and since I’m 62 having a baby is not an option but using spell check would be for you

    • If she were angling for the governor’s mansion she would be on their side. And it’s called satiric misspelling. Look it up.

You’re not bothered by the fact that they’re passing legislation they don’t even understand?

    • Wow. Really? She has the courage to stand up to a bunch of grandstanding chreestians who don’t even know what a rape kit is. But you know Deb, if you’d like to have a baby, more power to you.
