Texas state senator to make announcement about future plans on Oct. 3

Democrat Wendy Davis, the Texas state senator who catapulted to national prominence this summer with a filibuster over access to abortion, is running for governor.

Wendy-Davis-FilibusterKey members of her party who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed her decision to NBC DFW on Thursday.

Davis is scheduled to make an announcement about her future plans on Oct. 3 at Wiley G. Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City.

However, her campaign spokesman, Hector Nieto, would not confirm on Thursday that she is running for governor.

“As Sen. Davis told grassroots supporters last week via email, she’s made a decision and she looks forward to making her decision public on Oct. 3,” he said.
